It's about water

My passion in water management was started when I lived in Bandung, Indonesia in 2006. At that time, I saw how difficult my neighbours to get access to water. Even though they lived in a public piped water services area, poverty prevented them from subscribing to government owned water service. The condition enforced them to fetch water from the nearest source, which in my opinion was not healthy enough. It was common that the person who fetched water was either female or children in the family. That concern leaded me to choose water management as my minor research in my master degree.

After went back to my occupation as a government officer in Kabupaten Bekasi, Indonesia, I saw similar condition as in Bandung. This time, I was the person in charge in planning water management for the district, so I did my best in my role to make my district be able to deliver safe and affordable water for the community. Apparently, it was not an easy task to do. There were many challenges awaited, from limited budget allocation and water source in some locations, low coordination with other sectors and institutions, low community awareness, etc. But it did not stop me there, even it made me think of pursuing higher degree in water management, which landed me now to Deakin University.
